Horizontal Movement for Rescue
Date and time is TBD

While most rope rescue training emphasizes vertical movement (raising and lowering), real-world rescues often require sideways travel, deviations, re-directs, and sustained work positioning. These skills are rarely taught in depth during routine training. This course addresses that gap.

About the event
Horizontal Movement for Rescue is an advanced rope operations course designed to bridge the gap between traditional fire service rope rescue training and professional rope access techniques. Using SPRAT Level–informed skills, this class focuses on efficient lateral and traversing movement on rope systems to reach, work on, and package victims in difficult-to-access environments.
Students will learn how to:
Ascend and transition into horizontal movement on rope systems
Build and operate traverse lines, deviations, and directional re-directs
Maintain stable work positioning while moving laterally
Access and package victims located away from the vertical fall line
